What God would say to a Mom when her child struggles

What GOd Says

My Child My Child!

Why are you  suffering in regard to your child?

Do you not realize it is I who have formed them and placed them

within your life for my great purpose?

These are purposes beyond your reach, beyond any human effort you could try to obtain.

I watch you toil in vain, in agony over your limited but beautiful efforts.

You are not able to do what only can be accomplished through my spirit.

I see such love in your heart and I only ask that you pray for the wisdom I promise to give you.

I have promised the protection your child needs.

I have promised the strength you need and the power to overcome obstacles

Do you trust me, Daughter?

In that moment of your greatest worry or slightest anxious feeling,

release your child to me in prayer. Click To Tweet

Submit your heart and soul to me as Lord of your family, Master of their care.

Resist the temptation of the evil one to fret or question my power.

When you praise me, these evil thoughts will leave and flee your mind like rats running in fear.

I will be faithful to complete the good work I desire to accomplish in your child- Click To Tweet

When we pray, it’s an important practice to remember the times that God was faithful in your life.

If you are feeling down today

Remember :

There is nothing, no circumstance, no trouble, no testing that can ever touch me until, first of all, it has come past God and past Christ, right through to me. If it has come that far, it has come with a great purpose.

Prayer 6: Help my unbelief!

Mark 9:23-24

But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!”

And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.”

Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

A powerful three word prayer: Help my unbelief ! Click To Tweet

My Uncle is a pastor and godly man who has shaped many key moments in my life through prayer. Before critical moments in our lives, we always picked up the phone to call Uncle Johnny. We joked that he had the hotline to God or the direct 911 to heaven. He is always quick to tell me he doesn’t have any power in his prayer, but God does. For me, there is nothing as powerful as an “Uncle John” prayer over the phone.

Do you have a person who you rely on for powerful prayer?

Somehow, when it’s just me and God alone, I can feel less authoritative in my prayers.

I squeak out the words…God, if you can do anything, help!

The prayer even when we doubt is Lord help me believe Click To Tweet

help me believe

One time, I remember Uncle John telling me that even if we are feeling weak in prayer we can cry out to God with the simple prayer of the father in Mark 9. ”  Help my unbelief. “

Maybe you don’t feel very authoritative or powerful in your prayers or maybe you don’t have access to a person to pray with you? Sometimes it’s easier to believe God in prayer when we have another person with us.

God is the only one who can help us with our unbelief. Click To Tweet

Are you feeling less faith today? Just ask God to help your unbelief !

Prayer Practice 5: Believe!

James 1:6

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt,

because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

To believe is to accept something as certain and true.

Belief in God is essential to answered prayer! Click To Tweet

When answers to our prayers don’t come quickly, it’s easy to begin to doubt God.

In our times of waiting, negative emotions can often become like waves of doubt that toss my thoughts back and forth.

In my human mind, I wrestle  to believe God and not allow my emotions to wash away my faith.

Will God let something bad happen to me?

Will God protect me?

Will God forget about me?

If prayer requires that we believe God, then we must know for certain what God will do for those who seek him.

God does nothing except in response to believing prayer. John Wesley Click To Tweet

When you need to believe what God will do, read this verse for reassurance against your doubts :

Remember the “WILL” of GOD

Psalm 91:14

Because he has loved Me, therefore

I will deliver him;

I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. 15“He will call upon Me, and

I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble;

I will rescue him and honor him.…

Prayer Intention: Believe!

Lord God,

I believe that you are the one true God, maker of heaven and earth. Because of your unfailing love for me, you promise to deliver me, to secure me, to answer me, to be with me in trouble, to rescue me and honor me. Thank you God for all you WILL do for me today and everyday. I ask that you remind me of what you WILL do even when I can’t see the answers and the time feels delayed. Strengthen my belief

I pray in Jesus Name- Amen

Prayer Practice 4: Cry out

40 days of prayer

Psalm 34:17-18

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears

and delivers them out of all their troubles.

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Have you ever been so desperate for an answer that you audibly cried out to God?

God will hear and be near!

I have spent many mornings and evenings face down in my living room, crying out to God for answers and relief.

Crying out to God comes from a place in our hearts of deep pain and suffering Click To Tweet

Crying out to God happens as we fall  surrendered before the only One who has the power and ability to help us. Whatever the painful event or triggering situation, we have this promise that when our hearts break, God will hear us. Just like a parent who responds instantly to the depserate cry of their own child, God listens to us with His full attention.

Can we say the words of Nancy Leigh DeMoss, host of Revive our Hearts radio ministry:

O God, make us desperate, and grant us faith and boldness to approach Your throne and

make our petitions known, knowing that in doing we link arms with Omnipotence and

become instruments of Your eternal purposes being fulfilled on this earth.

Prayer Practice 3: Meditation

40 days of prayer

Psalm 19:14

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.

One of the most effective spiritual prayer practices is biblical meditation. Click To Tweet

During times of seeking God, it’s important to meditate on key scriptures that constantly redirect our thoughts to God. One idea might be writing a life verse on an index card and carrying it with you. When you are tempted to being to doubt or question that God will answer you, begin to read the verse aloud. This is a form of simple meditation.

The Holman Bible Dictionary describes Biblical Meditation as this:

“Most references to meditation occur in the Old Testament, especially in the Psalms. The Hebrew words for meditation primarily were derived from two separate roots.

Mediation includes reciting scripture

The first (hagah ) literally means “to utter in a low sound.” The word is used to denote the growling of a lion (Isaiah 31:4 ) or the cooing of a dove (Isaiah 38:14 ). Therefore it has been suggested that, in ancient Hebrew meditation, Scripture frequently was recited in a low murmur.

Meditation focuses our thoughts on God

The second root word (siach ) has the basic meaning of “to be occupied with,” or “concerned about.” Thus meditation is the repetitious going over of a matter in one’s mind because it is the chief concern of life. The constant recollection of God’s past deeds by the hearing of Scripture and repetition of thought produce confidence in God”

Meditation on scripture produces confidence in God! Click To Tweet

In my life, I find key verses of scripture to meditate on each day. Meditation on key verses helps me to recite God’s word back to Him in a prayer all day. For example, If I am meditating on Psalm 19:14,I would recite the words of this verse to God in prayer. You can read an example below.

Todays key prayer intention :  Meditation of my Heart

Dear Lord,

I pray that the words of my mouth, the words that I speak to others and the words that I speak in prayer would be words that would honor you. I pray that the meditations or scriptures that I focus my heart upon would be pleasing to you. Help me to bring the thoughts, feelings and attitudes of my heart into alignment with your promises in scripture. Lead me to key verses that remind me of your unfailing love that will preserve my life forever.

I ask this in Jesus name, amen-

Prayer Practice 2: Ask For Wisdom

James 1:5

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,

who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Spiritual wisdom is God's way of providing the guidance we need for each day. Click To Tweet

God desires us to ask him for wisdom and not to seek it on the internet, self-help shelves or even on the cell phone from a friend. When we really need guidance in the deepest parts of our heart, we are told in the book of James, to ask God who will give without judging us. God wants to give our minds the wisdom we need for each day and the guidance for big decisions.

A biblical example of asking for wisdom was Solomon. Solomon could have asked God for any of the riches of the world, but instead he asked God for wisdom. God blessed Solomon with this request and made him one of the wisest men in History. He authored the book of Proverbs in the Bible. We can take courage from Solomon’s prayer to God.

Solomon prayed: Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

Be encouraged today!

Dr.Paul M Elliot writes in Teaching the Word Ministries that believers already have 90 % of the wisdom we need :

“Dear Christian friend, if you understand the general principles of God’s Word, if you read it and study it so that the Bible’s way of thinking becomes your way of thinking – you’ll probably have at least ninety percent of the answers to your questions about what the will of God is for your life. Am I making a decision, am I following a path, that conforms to the general principles for Christian life, thinking, and conduct that are laid down in the pages of Scripture? Asking and answering those kinds of questions based on the authority of the Word of God is what the Apostle Paul calls here spiritual wisdom. The overwhelming majority of the decisions we need to make as Christians are clearly governed by this kind of wisdom.”

Todays prayer intention: Ask God for wisdom

God –

I come to you today asking for wisdom beyond my understanding. Just as you gave the gift of wisdom to Solomon, who could have asked you for riches or the wealth of the world, I am asking you for the riches of divine wisdom in my specific situation. Speak to me through the pages of the bible. Confirm scripture to me throughout my day. Help my mind to become focused on your will and your ways.

I ask this in the name of Jesus -Amen

Prayer Practice 1: Ask With Persistence

Matthew 7:7

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.…

Do you have something pressing on your heart today?

I do!

I am beginning to seek God for some answers to specific situations in my life.

When I went through difficult losses in my life, I had to begin to pray a one word prayer that would change my life focus-I began to pray and ask God how.

How will you use my situation for your purposed in this world, when I feel like my life is not going according to plan ?

Maybe you have experienced a situation that you are having trouble understanding and you need to find a way to press into God for answers?

This is a five minute solution to begin to ask God how he will use something in your life and preserve your heart in the process.

This is the 40 days of prayer solution to find the preserving power of prayer in your life.

If you would like to join me, I’ll post a scripture and a short meditation each morning here for the next 40 days leading up to Easter.  I pray we will find answers from God together as we ask God to search us. He promises when we seek Him, we will find Him, when we search for Him with all our hearts.

To Searching is : to try to find something by looking or otherwise seeking carefully and thoroughly.
Are you searching for answers today?
Dr. Charles Stanley writes on Insight for Living :

If we want the Lord to answer our prayers, we must pray with perseverance.

  • What did Jesus mean when He said “seek” and “knock” in Matthew 7:7-8? He was inviting believers to approach the Father freely with our petitions, fully expecting Him to provide all we need. The verbs in this passage are best translated as “seek, and keep on seeking” and “knock, and keep on knocking.” In other words, some of the gifts God has for us come only after long seasons of waiting and praying.
Todays Reflective prayer statement :
Ask and it will be given to you
Prayer 1:
Dear God,
I come before you today and I humble myself in your presence. I believe in your divine power and wisdom for my life. Just like a loving parent who deeply understands and knows their child, I know you love me. I am your child who is asking you for wisdom with the deepest needs of my life.
I am asking for answers to specific situations and I know you will give me what I need.
I seek your direction and I believe I will find your guidance .
I am praying that you will reveal open doors that will allow me to proceed and even closed doors where I should not follow.
In Jesus Name.

Get back up!

Never, never, never give up. Winston Churchill Click To Tweet

Get back up in your trial

How many of you have  been going through a hard trial lately?

Maybe you have been distressed about things either in your out of your control.

I can understand! I feel like this weekend was a mental game of survival for me while negative emotions kept whizzing though my mind like bees out to sting me.

The truth is that I am  in a trial right now of my emotions.

Will I trust God for my children as they get older and develop a faith of their own?

Many times I have felt like I am in a survival game or  mental challenge .

Maybe you know what I am talking about?

I go through my day pretty well and then there is this thought or emotion that seems to come out of no where and POW! I feel like I am lost in a wilderness trying to find my way again.  We can pray about the POW that has seemed to wreck our life) POW stands for plan outta whack!

So here is some encouragement to myself and maybe you- from a survival expert : ( my boys love this show! )

Survival can be summed up in three words – never give up. That’s the heart of it really. Just keep trying.

Today is the day we get back up and start trying again.

A wise woman once told me it’s not that we won’t have any down moments in life, it’s how fast we can get back to trying and moving forward that counts.

Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. Harriet Beecher Stowe Click To Tweet

Dear Lord-

I am asking for you intervention today to turn my difficult situation around. I pray for your divine intervention with hearts that are involved and minds that need to change, including mine. Help me to develop an attitude of joy in my trials, knowing that you are revealing my character and refining my ability to endure to the end. I ask  that you comfort me in this process and make me affect with others throughout my day to bring resolution.

In Jesus Name- Amen-
